Darwin Series
Through art, we roam far from home.
The Darwinism series was inspired by the tall grass of the Northern Territory, where Thierry B visited on a trip to buy aboriginal art.
He was struck by the spears of grass rising several metres to touch the sky.
This series is made without a brush. The mottled background is created with a palette knife.
The expressive landscape of dancing grass is made when the artist throws paint at the canvas with an effortless flick of the wrist. Layers are built up rapidly in a process that’s free and brimming with joy.
The rhythmic shapes of the blades of grass become a mantra drawing you in. The space between the grass acts like a pause for breath and brings to life a transient moment in time.
Dive in, push the grass aside, and begin your adventure.
